Choosing the right chain length is important - it affects how your Celtic cross pendant sits and the overall look of the piece. Use this guide to find the perfect length for you or the person you are buying for.
All measurements refer to the total length of the chain when laid flat. Our standard chain included free with most Celtic cross necklaces is 18 inches.
Chain length guide
Choker lengthSits close to the base of the neck. Best for smaller pendants and delicate pieces. Works well on women with shorter necks.
Standard length - most popularThe most versatile and popular length. Sits just below the collarbone. Suits most neck sizes and pendant styles. This is the chain included free with our necklaces.
Below collarboneSits a few inches below the collarbone. Great for larger pendants and crosses. A popular choice for men.
Mid chestHangs at mid chest level. Works well for larger statement crosses and pendants. Popular for men's Celtic crosses.
Lower chestA longer, more relaxed look. Ideal for larger crosses and pendants worn as a statement piece. Best suited to men or taller women.
Free chain included: All Celtic cross necklaces in our collection include a free 18 inch sterling silver cable chain. If you would prefer a longer chain or a heavier chain, you can upgrade on the product page. Upgraded chains are available in the same metal as your pendant.
Men vs women: Men generally prefer longer chains - 20 to 24 inches is most popular for men. Women typically prefer 16 to 20 inches. That said, personal preference and pendant size both play a role so use this as a guide only.

If you are buying as a gift and are not sure which length to choose, we recommend going with 18 inches - it is our most popular length and suits the widest range of people. If the recipient would prefer a different length, they can always exchange under our 30-day returns policy.
